I have WIN XP pro with service pack2 and there is a folder taking up 500 MB of space on my C drive, is it needed any more?

Can I delete the C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles folder?
hi mate,

No you cant delete this folder as this is needed to keep track of your updated patches and files. You cant delete as is it a system folder and can not be deleted and even if you delete it forcefully by using thirparty softwares your windows might crash. So better of not touching it mate.

Reply:It's most likely the backup folder that was created before SP2 was applied. It should be safe to delete.
Reply:no, that might be important.
Reply:I don't think so!
