The thing is, I currently have Windows XP on my secondary Drive which is D: and C: was being used as storage space along with its second partition E: The problem now is, Can I install Windows on C: without deleting the Back-Up Files stored on E:
Now E: which is "part of" C: because it is the same Hard Drive has all of my files which I could not back-up anywhere else because it is too big even for DVD9s and It will take a long time to put 'em on 5 DVD9s so I want to leave them in E: hoping that when I install on C: it wont format and delete E: along with C: Will it Delete Files on E: when Installing to C:?
Imediate answer required!!! Please HELP!!! Can I install Windows Xp on Drive C: but not Delete the Files on E:
No, it should not delete the files in E drive, eventhough the C and E drives are on the same physical hard drive. You just need to make sure that you will install Windows on the C drive, and it will only format the C drive.
Reply:No, It will defenetly NOT Remove your files unless you tell it to.
Reply:of course u can
when u put in the installation cd, the first question is where do you want to install it? but do you have enough disk space to partition as 3 drives. furthermore, too many partitions will increase the ridk of your hard disk read/write heads to fail and also create a lot of bad sectors.
Reply:No, you can format C: without effecting anything on E: Just make sure you don't go telling it to blow out existing partitions when you do the install.
Reply:on the way
is m earlier?
lol
dude just get a bootabe cd or normal win xp service pack 2 or which ever suits you
run your window from drive d which already told that you have window installed on that drive
put the cd
open my computer
note down the serial key
run the setup
an immediate dialoge box come which have 2 options
1. upgarde
2. new installation
choose the second one and proceed further with the given instruction and choose drive c for installation.
it will install your 2 windows in d(previously installed) and in c (which you are going to install) without formating your drive e.
thanks

Reply:That should be no problem. If you're worried about it, unplug E: until after Windows is reinstalled.
Reply:Back up your important data on an external HDD. Reformat, and use C:\ as your OS. This is the way that programs are written. I think that you have made your system so complicated, that you have lost track of how to use your knowledge. If you have more than one HDD, try a RAID... Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. A software RAID will f**k up...as you have seen, so I suggest you spend a little extra cash and create a hardware RAID.
Reply:yes,
when you install windows, it'll only format the partition you install it on. Therefore, you won't lose any data on E: if you install on C:
And i just saw your question about halo 2 on a geforce 4mx, but it was too late to answer. But to answer that question, I don't think it would run on that very well (If at all)
Halo 2 lagged on my geforce 6 series so I doubt it would run well on a 4 series.
