I am wanting to delete everything on my c drive and run a fresh intallation of Windows Xp Pro. I have tried to do this from boot disc by pressing f12 and have been given options but unsure exactly what to do. I need to delete the c drive and then install xp professional again as I have a new product licence number.
Can you please let me know exactly what to do and what keys and what data has to be selected.
How do you format or delete c drive %26amp; install fresh Windows XP Pro again?

Reply:You need the restore discs, put them in the cd drive then they should boot up. once it comes to install screen it will ask you to do a clean or upgrade and you want clean. I foyu don't have any xp discs they are a hundred bucks at walmart.
Reply:you can never delete the primary disk drive where your operating system is situated. you have to follow some steps that i suggest you:
1. first of all save your all important data of c drive to another drive that you want to remain in your computer after the formatting of c: drive then
2. insert bootable xp or vista cd in your cd rom. you have to boot your system from cd drive. select the appropriate option like pressing f12, f8 etc.
3. then follow the instruction that bootable cd shows on the screen.
Reply:If you are ready to lose all your data, files and settings, do a fresh clean install. You can delete the partitions and format them.
Hit %26lt;Del%26gt; key while starting the computer. You should be loading the BIOS now. Go to 'advanced' or such thing. See the 'boot sequence', change it so that the computer boots in from the CD drive. 'make CD drive the first boot device.
Save and exit, keep the Windows installer CD in the drive and restart.
Your computer starts in the installation mode.
During installation you may be asked to partition/format the hard disk, select the option you want and the installation is almost automatic.
